Who: Ardyn + the FFXVs
What: A 2000-year history lesson.

Warnings: Discussion of varying unpleasant things, mind the subject lines.
[Ardyn had been struggling with the idea of complete and total honesty for quite some time. But following the last storm, with a largely clueless Noctis as one of their number...his hands were somewhat tied. He had slipped up a time or two already, and it was well past time he laid his metaphorical cards on the table.]
[It wouldn't be easy. He knew it wouldn't be easy, and perhaps that was part of why he had kept pushing the idea back and postponing it until there was no other option. Unfortunately, 'no other option' had come far sooner than he had wanted. If anything was going to change--and he wasn't so deluded to keep believing it would--then Noctis at minimum would have to know the truth. And since the young king would have been stupid to believe a word out of Ardyn's mouth, better to tell him where others could confirm bits and pieces of the truth. For the same reason he'd asked Ignis to get the others together; like hell Noctis and possibly Iris would cooperate hearing from Ardyn himself.]
[Regardless, when they were all generally in the same area, Ardyn leaned back against Hresvelgr as the bird laid her head on his shoulder, and after a long moment of choosing his words did the apocalypse speak.]
...I won't pretend to care whether you think me a liar or not, Your Majesty. But there is an abundance of things you don't know about the history of the Lucian line, as well as things kept from you by the very gods themselves. None of you know the fully drawn picture of things, and it's past time someone did.
I suggest you get comfortable. It's a long story.
